What military time is 10pm

military time is used by the military and emergency services personnel to measure time. It uses a 24-hour clock system, instead of the 12-hour clock system used in our everyday lives. On a 24-hour clock, instead of hours from 1 to 12, hours are numbered from 0 to 23. This means that military time does not differentiate between the two different times of day, i.e., it does not distinguish between 10am and 10pm.

Military time assigns each hour of the day a numeric value, starting with 0000 (zero-zero-zero-zero). At this point in time, it is midnight or 12am on the 12-hour clock system. Each hour then increases by 100 (one-hundred) increments until 2400 (twenty-four hundred) which is midnight on the 24-hour clock or 12am on the 12-hour clock system. Therefore, 10pm on the 12-hour clock is expressed as 2200 (twenty two hundred) in military time.

Although it may seem confusing at first glance, this type of timekeeping is actually very easy to understand. All that you need to remember is that any given hour prior to noon remains exactly the same when switching from standard to military time; for instance 6am is expressed as 0600; 10am expressed as 1000 and so on until noon which is expressed as 1200 (twelve hundred).

Then for any given hour after noon, you simply add 1200 (twelve hundred), for instance, 1pm becomes 1300 (thirteen hundred), 8pm becomes 2000 (twenty hundred) and 10pm becomes 2200 (twenty two hundred). As you can see from this example, if you know how to convert one hour into military time then you will be able to easily keep track of every other hour in just a matter of seconds!
